Labor proposes second commissioner to help tax disputes

The Labor Party, traditionally no friends of small business, has agreed to appoint another tax commissioner to help small businesses settle tax disputes with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).

The purpose is to provide greater flexibility and a better appeal process than the one that exists now.

This is very welcomed by small businesses that have consistently complained about unfair audits and systems devoid of fair process.

This is much needed and will assist Bill Shorten in winning over small business votes.

To date, this hasn’t been matched by the Government. In fact, they propose tapping into our phone calls.

There appears to be a number of challenges with the Coalition at the moment, so let’s hope they see the light so we have clear choice. This will allow for better settlement of disputes.
