Considering switching to a new accountant?

It doesn’t hurt just to think about what you want from your accountant to ensure you are getting the best value for money.

Should I switch?

While a lot of small businesses out there are perfectly happy with their accountant, there are others who feel let down by the service they receive... difficult to contact, lack of knowledge, out-of-date systems... the list goes on! It doesn’t hurt just to think about what you want from your accountant and to ensure you are getting the best value for money.

Here are a few questions you can ask yourself about your current accountant:

If you answered no to any of these questions then it may be time to take a look at switching to an accountant that meets your business needs.

Is it difficult to switch?

The good news is that switching to a new accountant is easy and usually does not take up too much time. Most of the work is done by the old and new accountants.

Once you have made the decision, your new accountant will send a letter to your old accountant to explain that you have decided to change and requesting some basic financial documents and information from them.

Your previous accountant should confirm that they have no problem with the switch and will provide the necessary information, but you may also just want to contact your old accountant yourself as a courtesy, to say that you are switching.
