Facebook to offer training for regional business owners

Small business owners across regional parts of Australia are set to benefit from marketing training delivered by Facebook staff.

Online social media and networking service Facebook, now with more than 2 billion monthly active users, announced the initiative on the side-lines of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Vietnam this month.

The program will initially focus across Mackay in North Queensland next year before being expanded to additional towns.

Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg said: “We’re really excited at the possibilities of what that can mean for job creation”.

The announcement was made during a dialogue with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull on building communities through technology.
